Trent David Steckel

On July 2nd, 2010, McHenry County lost a vibrant and active young member. Trent Steckel, 24, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident, and has left his community in mourning. A 2004 graduate of Crystal Lake South High School, Trent was a star running back of the football team, and well-respected role model. In college, Trent was awarded a scholarship to play football at Eastern Illinois University. After graduating with a degree in Sociology, Trent went on to become a certified Firefighter/EMT as an apprentice with the Woodstock Fire Rescue District. He was on his way to becoming a Paramedic, when his life suddenly ended too early. Learn more.

With the gracious help of the Woodstock Fire Rescue District, the "Trent Steckel Scholarship Fund" has been established in order to honor Trent’s life and dedication to helping others. The scholarship will be available for McHenry County residents, training to become Firefighters and Emergency Medical Responders. Learn more.
